Our Classic room is perfect for couples looking to relax and reconnect in wine country

Let us help you plan the perfect couple's getaway to wine country! Follow this guide to help you plan a romantic and relaxing vacay at The June in Prince Edward County filled with all the romance, where you can reconnect with the one you love over good wine and good eats.

DAY ONE

Let the wine country staycation begin

Welcome to The June! Come to the Lobby Bar to check-in, and enjoy your welcome glass of rosé. We recommend ordering a cheese and charcuterie board to enjoy with your rosé in the lobby bar or on the patio. Afterwards head up to your Classic room (the perfect room for couples), take a seat on your balcony which overlooks the Picton Bay, and crack open the chilled bottle of bubbly you preordered for your arrival. Soak up the views and relax, because your romantic getaway has started!

Pre-dinner pints

Before you head out for dinner we recommend jumping in your car and driving about ten minutes to the nearby modern farmhouse style brewery, Slake Brewing, for a pre-dinner pint. With a stunning property, gorgeous panoramic views of The County, and delicious craft beer, this spot is hard to beat. Motelier tip: Make sure you hit this place at sunset as it’s truly spectacular, and in the cooler months you can enjoy these sunset views around their outdoor campfires.

Date night

Next up, drive back to The June to freshen up for your Prince Edward County date night. We recommend staying close by and having your first date night in Picton, just minutes away from The June, at either Stella’s Wine Bar or The Royal for an elevated night out.

If you're planning on enjoying a few drinks, we recommend calling a cab at least 30 minutes in advance, or pre-booking a cab, which Cronkie's, Terry's Taxi, and The Taxi Guy all offer.

DAY TWO

First things first: coffee and a bike ride

Start your day off on a high note by waking up slow, grabbing a coffee from our lobby and sipping it on your patio or treating yourself to coffee in bed. While you’re in the lobby we recommend asking our concierges about our complimentary bike rentals, and going for a quick bike ride into town, or around the motel.

Taste your way through The County

Next up on the agenda: Get ready to see (and taste) the best of wine country. For the best experience, we suggest leaving the driving to someone else.. One of our favourite wine tour companies is My County Wine Tours. Their half day tour is perfect for couples wanting to experience an afternoon filled with the best of the best wine Prince Edward County has to offer. They make stops at five amazing select wineries with this package, you have the option to add a picnic lunch if you foresee yourself getting hungry while sipping on pinots and chardonnays, plus they pick you up and drop you off right at The June! How perfect is that? Wine tours operators book months in advance, so plan early!

Dinner

After an afternoon of wine tastings you've probably built up an appetite, so it's time to take it easy and freshen up back at The June before your dinner reservations. We recommend making reservations in advance at Sand and Pearl, Bocado or Flame + Smith to enjoy some of the very best food in The County.

Patio action

If your night out enjoying some of the best food in Prince Edward County gave you a boost of energy and you're not ready to call it a night yet, head down to our patio. Grab a seat by our campfire and enjoy a night cap and roast a s’more, just like the good old days.

Motelier tip: This is a quintessential experience at The June and we love watching couples come together and share stories with each other around the campfire, under the twinkles of the string lights.

DAY THREE

Breakfast, beach, and antiques

Start off your day by swinging by the lobby to grab a coffee to bring back to your room while you get ready for your beach day, and head into Picton to grab something quick for breakfast from Beacon Bike + Brew or pastries from The Royal. Stella’s has amazing brunch, but it’s only offered on certain days of the week, so consult with Google before making your plans.

After breakfast, get ready to head out to Sandbanks Provincial Park's white sand beach - you know, the one you've seen on Instagram, for a full day of sand and sun. If you get a full day in at the beach and leave early enough, you’ll have time to hit some of The County's amazing nearby antique shops for some local vintage shopping. There are so many gems to choose from, like MacCool's Re-Use, Dead People's Stuff, and County Traders, and who knows, you might find that piece you've always dreamed about for your home.

Dinner

For your last date night in The County we recommend two options: La Condesa and Koenji Whiskey Bar, down the road from us in Wellington. La Condesa has incredible Mexican cuisine (our fave tacos in The County!) and Koenji Whiskey Bar, which is a one minute walk away, has an extensive whiskey list (their sake sangria is delish). Wellington Public Beach is just down the street from these two spots as well if you want to end your evening with a nighttime beach walk, which we highly recommend.

DAY FOUR

Brunch

Rise and shine, it's your last day of your getaway! Just because it's your last day doesn't mean the fun has to end just yet. Grab some coffee from the lobby and then head into Picton and browse the shops of Main Street - our fave shops include Kelly’s, Coriander Girl, Keep, Field Made Goods, and City Revival

Work up an appetite while shopping, then head out for brunch at Drake Devonshire. Chicken and waffles by Lake Ontario? Yes please, and as always, we recommend making reservations. If you go the brunch route, we also recommend following that up with some Italian pastries from Enid Grace Piccolina, just down the road from The Drake. They're to die for.
