While Prince Edward County might be best known for its wine, there’s another liquid it produces that is equally delicious… maple syrup. Indulge in both during the Maple in The County festival on March 24 & 25.
EARLY DINNER AT MIDTOWN BREWERY
With days being a little longer, duck out of work early so you can be at Midtown for a burger and a pint (or cocktails) before the sun sets, in this former meat factory-turned brewpub.
CHECK-IN AT THE JUNE MOTEL
Be one of the first guests to check in to the June Motel in 2018 for the motel’s opening weekend. Soak in the vibes of the lobby bar with your welcome glass of rosé.
COFFEE & SCONES
Send a message to the Text Message Concierge to request a scone or two to pair with your in-room Nespresso coffee. This little bite will keep you from getting hangry while waiting for your pancakes.
BREAKFAST IN A SUGARBUSH
Ask any local, and they are sure to have a favourite sugarbush. The June’s favourite is Walt’s Sugar Shack. Be sure to dress warmly for this authentic and popular pancake breakfast in the woods.
It’s time to wash down those pancakes with that famous County wine. Many wineries get in on the Maple in The County fun and have maple-infused treats to keep you going. Some of our favourites for the day are:
Norman Hardie - maple smoked salmon crostini and wine by the glass around the firepit
The Grange – spiced wine and s’mores over the fire in the tasting room
Traynor Family Vineyard - delicious maple infused cocktail and tasty maple infused chocolates
Karlo Estates – gluten free or vegan friend in the group? They’ll enjoy this stop for its vegan wine and pancakes.
Prince Eddy’s – okay, not wine, but maple beer, live music, maple glazed smoked chicken, and yard games
Kinsip House of Fine Spirits - Also not wine…. Taste a maple whisky and its partner whisky barrel aged maple syrup
RELAX & UNWIND
After touring around wine country for the day, enjoy a delicious meal and a glass of your favourite County wine at Hartley’s Tavern in Picton. If you’re still looking to take part in some merriment after dinner, enjoy live music at The County Canteen before heading back to The June for the evening.
YOGA @ THE DRAKE
You’ll have to get an early start, but it’s worth it to make it to one of our favourite yoga classes in The County with Megan Marie Gates in the Glass Box at The Drake Devonshire. $15 + $2 for mat rental; cash only.
ANOTHER PANCAKE BREAKFAST
In case you haven’t yet had your fill of maple syrup, linger at The Drake for their pancake breakfast with one of the best views around.
Bring some of that liquid gold home with you, with a stop on your way out of The County at Strictly Maple.
