36 HOURS: EXPLORING THE COUNTY DURING COVID-19

7/18/2020

Summer is here, and so is Phase 3 of re-opening in Ontario, so although this summer in Prince Edward County may look a little different, The County can still be a magical getaway, social distance approved. So grab your face mask, and get ready to rosé all day.

Day 1

4:00pm: Begin your contactless checkin at The June, commence complementary rosé, enjoy on-arrival snacks like our famous truffle chips or a cheese and charcuterie board, and relax.

6:00pm: Head out to dinner nearby at Stella's Eatery - they just opened their patio! Or if you're a craft beer drinker, try Parsons for beer and takeout that you can enjoy on their sprawling outdoor fields.

8:30pm: Grab a sweater (and maybe some bug spray) and head down to the Mustang Drive-In (when was the last time you went to a drive-in?) to catch a movie at 9:00pm. This month The Mustang is screening iconic films like The Goonies, Mean Girls, Almost Famous, Space Jam and Dreamgirls. Motelier tip: pack some blankets and swing by the snack bar before the movie starts to enhance your movie night!

Day 2

10:00am: Enjoy a light breakfast in your room consisting of chia pudding, nomz energy bites, and cold pressed OJ (this must be pre-ordered), then head down to Beacon Bike + Brew for a 20oz coffee on us. Just say you're from The June, flash your room key, and enjoy your coffee while browsing the shops on Picton Main Street. A few favourites are: Luna Boutique (by appointment only), Field Made Goods, Kelly's Shop, Coriander Girl and The Ye11ow Studio.

11:00am: For the nature lovers you can drive five minutes to hike at Macaulay Mountain (or bike for 20 minutes!), even if you aren’t the outdoorsy type it’s a beautiful spot and you can snap some pics of birdhouse city for Instagram.

1:00pm: Head back to The June, freshen up, and head out to Wellington Beach for a picnic! Make sure to stop along the way at the Agrarian Market for snacks, Midtown Brewing Co. for takeout wood fire pizza, and/or Rock’N Rogers for chip truck style eats. Enjoy your picnic on the beach while soaking up the sun all afternoon.

3:00pm: Wine o’clock starts early when you’re in Prince Edward County. There are a few local wineries to visit where you can still safely taste local wines while social distancing. One of our favourite experiences was at The Grange, where they are selling tasting kits with vials of wines that you can enjoy in the vineyard. If you’re in the mood for a cocktail or a full glass of wine, Old Salt Cocktails is a mobile trailer turned bar in the vineyard. Cheers!

5:00pm: On your way back to Picton, stop by Wellington Pottery’s outdoor showroom in Wellington before heading back to The June to shop for some locally made goods. Depending on how you plan your day, you can even book one of Wellington Pottery’s newly designed socially distant workshops to create your own masterpieces!

6:00pm: Set up your DIY picnic in our Bohemian Forest with takeout from Flame + Smith, or Judy’s BBQ (the fried chicken is amazing!). We supply everything you need for a picnic all packaged in one picnic bag to keep, you just supply the food!

8:00pm: Head to The June’s patio for some campfire action! The patio is open from 7:00pm - 10:00pm nightly, with social distanced seating, enchanting string lights, feel good tunes, canned beverages (non-alcoholic options available), and of course our campfire. You can also browse our gift shop as you order a beverage!

Day 3

9:00am: Start your day off on a positive note by heading to the yoga deck in our Bohemian Forest with a complimentary yoga mat (request in advance). We enjoy using the Down Dog App, or streaming a class by Yoga with Adrienne.

11:00am: Time to check out and either make it a day at head to Sandbanks Provincial Park for a beach day, or hit the road. For that final pitstop, whether you’re in the mood for lunch or just coffee, we suggest hitting The Bean Counter, Jerkabago or Enid Grace.

Happy exploring! Click here to view our availability calendar, or book a stay. Cheers!
